Member Agency Spotlight: Valley Youth House
The Philadelphia Furniture Bank (PFB) is proud to partner with more than 50 member agencies to provide furniture to those who need it most. Since our founding in 2014, we’ve furnished over 8,000 homes. Valley Youth House, one of our valued member agencies, has been partnering with us since 2017. In the last two years, we’ve served almost 100 homes from Valley Youth House and have helped furnish more than 300 homes throughout our partnership. PFB provides complete sets of home furniture, including living and dining room furnishings, brand-new bedding, and more. Let’s take a closer look at Valley Youth House and how they serve the Philadelphia region.
Valley Youth House was established in 1973 with a single shelter in Pennsylvania, offering a safe space for youth experiencing homelessness. Over the past 50 years, the organization has grown significantly, expanding its services to provide housing, counseling, life skills development, and mentorship programs to young people and their families. Valley Youth House is dedicated to ensuring that every young person has the support and resources they need to build a stable and successful future.
Our mission is to be the catalyst for youth to achieve their desired futures through genuine relationships that support families, ensure safe places, and build community connections.
The organization offers a range of programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of youth and young adults, including the Rapid Re-Housing Program, which helps young people transition from homelessness to stable housing. Additionally, their Supportive Housing Programs provide long-term assistance to those who have aged out of the foster care system or are at risk of becoming homeless. Valley Youth House also provides education, workforce development, and mental health services to empower young people and set them up for success.
In recent years, Valley Youth House has expanded its impact by developing new partnerships and innovative programs, now serving 14 counties in Pennsylvania. Their commitment to advocacy and community collaboration has helped countless young people gain independence and build brighter futures. They also recently released a podcast series!
We’re incredibly proud to support Valley Youth House in their mission to empower and uplift youth experiencing housing insecurity. At PFB, we believe that providing a stable and comfortable home environment is a crucial step in fostering independence and well-being.
