Furnishing a Future and the Philadelphia Furniture Bank’s partnership began one cold day in January 2016. We both had a shared interest in furniture, workforce development, and how we could help individuals struggling with finding employment. Furnishing a Future’s training program allows students the opportunity to learn a trade while providing beautiful handmade tables and dressers to Philadelphia Furniture Bank clients who are coming out homelessness and crisis situations.

Steve Greenburg, CEO of Furnishing a Future, says that the program has a “100% job placement rate of training and placing Philadelphians who were either chronically unemployed and/or returning from incarceration.”

Kitchen tables are a high need item at the Philadelphia Furniture Bank. Students from Furnishing a Future recently completed a handmade table for donation that was selected by a client the same day it was added to the floor! Thank you to everyone who is a part of this program for giving a person who had experienced homelessness a beautiful table to eat dinner from in their new home.
