Happy 10th Anniversary Pathways to Housing PA !!
This September 1st, Pathways to Housing PA reached a big milestone. We celebrated our 10th anniversary in the City of Brotherly and Sisterly Love. We have come a long way from the days of working in a single room with a few employees to now, ten years out, having a staff of over 80, supporting over 400 of Philadelphia’s most vulnerable citizens using the Housing First model. We have also helped thousands move out of homelessness by providing furniture through our program, the Philadelphia Furniture Bank. As we celebrate all of our many accomplishments, we would like to take a moment to say thank you some very important people:
Our Staff – Thank you for your unwavering belief that the Housing First Model is the right approach for our participants and this organization. Thank you for going out in the field every day, regardless of weather, situations, or issues with the goal of providing a home, restoring health, and working to reclaim a life. You are the lifeblood of this organization. Thank you to our administrative staff for supporting our teams of doctors, nurses, case workers and peer specialists. We know that every employee matters.
Our Donors – Thank you for giving whatever you can, whenever you can. Every dollar helps move our mission forward. Did you know that just $10 a month can provide a hot meal to one of our neighbors still living on the streets? Or that $25 allows our Philadelphia Furniture Bank to purchase a much-needed bedframe so that a child can sleep on a mattress instead of the floor? Our Funders – Thank you for believing in what we do and for understanding that the Housing First Model is successfully working in Philadelphia. We literally cannot do what we do without your support, guidance, and funding. Working to end homelessness benefits us all, and we could not do it without these incredible partnerships over the past 10 years. Included in the many partnerships has been funding for the nation’s first opioid specific scattered site Housing First team. Today, that team serves more than 70 individuals with histories of opioid use disorders, and we are adding another similar team this year.
Our Volunteers – We may be a mighty staff but there are times when even the mightiest need help. So a huge shout out to our volunteers who help lighten the load, volunteering their time at our Philadelphia Furniture Bank to build, repair, move, and deliver furniture. To volunteers who help us with our fundraising events or administrative needs, we are grateful for your service. We love our volunteers and cannot thank you enough for your time, talent and energy. We understand that you do this for your love of our organization, the mission, and the participants.
Our Board of Directors – Thank you to this collaborative, insightful group of individuals who volunteer their time, knowledge and year-round commitment to Pathways to Housing PA. We truly would not be celebrating a successful 10th anniversary if it were not for their dedication. We are so grateful for each and every one of our past and present board members who has had an important role to play here at Pathways.
Our CEO, Christine Simiriglia – Thank you for your vision, your tenacity, and your grace. As the leader of this organization, you have taken risks and met challenges head on. You have fostered a culture of kindness and dignity, and that will be one of the lasting legacies of Pathways to Housing PA. We are excited to see where you will lead us to next.
So as we head into the next decade with our organization. We take this moment, once again to say, Thank You! Thank you for your belief, your support and your love of our organization. We would not be here if all of the pieces above were not in place. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
