Growing to Meet the Need

A person sleeping on the street

In partnership with Philadelphia's Office of Supportive Housing, Department of Behavioral Health and DisAbilities, and Community Behavioral Health, we are adding capacity to house and serve an additional 45 chronically homeless people with disabilities this winter!

This means we are hiring - see our Job Opps HERE (people who speak Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply).

We are also looking for additional low cost apartment units to rent, and are in need of basic household goods for our Move-In Kits.  Information about how you can help us to meet the needs of these vulnerable people  is HERE.

For example, a move-in kit at Pathways includes these items:

  • full sheet sets and comforters
  • bath towels and wash cloths
  • shower curtains and hooks
  • plungers
  • dish drains and dish towels
  • can openers
  • sets of pots and pans
  • dish sets
  • flatware sets
  • new glasses and coffee mugs,
  • telephones
  • kitchen trash cans
  • storage containers like Tupperware
  • coffee makers
  • brooms and dust pans

Drives to collect items like this go a long way to helping us stretch our budget and are a great activity for groups and organizations around the holidays!

Pathways is charged with reaching and meeting the needs of Philadelphia's "hardest to house" individuals. That is who we serve and what we do. People are challenging (all people - not just those we serve) and our staff are up for the challenge. We have begun outreach and engagement activities with a list of folks who have been ranked according to need. They have been on the streets the longest, have a serious and persistent mental illness, have refused housing and treatment services, and suffer with medical issues. Many in this group speak little English or don't speak any English at all.

With your help, we will be ready to meet the need.  Thanks for your continued support of our efforts.
