Meet the Artists 2024 - Part 3
As we approach this yearβs Furnished for Good, we will feature our artists who have created pieces for the upcoming event and auction. This year we are working with 14 local artists selected by our Guest Curators, Damon Reaves and Lawren Alice. All of these artists work with different mediums, have diverse styles, and bring new perspectives through their artwork. This week we are featuring Mithsuca Berry, Juliet Schreckinger, Carolyn Hopper. Mithsuca added their stylistic touch to an existing furniture piece, while Juliet and Carolyn both created unique art pieces from scratch for this exhibit!
Mithsuca Berry
Mithsuca Berry is an artist, educator, and storyteller based in PA. Throughout their practice, they have transformed what creating art means to them. Each of Mithusca's pieces marks an epiphany in their journey of healing trauma - as it relates to existing as a black queer/non-binary person. Art has been the intersection between their inner child and spiritual self. The conversations had between these two are what Mithusca uses to navigate systems set in place to limit people like them. This practice answers the question: How do I create an archive of imagery, recording the complex emotions that surface in my lifetime? Mithusca will then RELEASE those examples into the world, for others who resonate and connect with. This process places healing within them but also in places that will exist beyond them.
Juliet Schreckinger

Juliet Schreckinger is a Long Island, NY-based artist. Her work is typically created using a stippling technique in pen & ink and graphite, with occasional splashes of color. Juliet's pieces are inspired by the ocean, nature, and all of the creatures within our world.
Since the time she was a child, Juliet has been fascinated by black and white photography, colorless television shows, and film noir movies. Being exposed to the lighting effects and sharp contrasts shown in these photographs and films greatly inspired the type of work that she does today. Juliet's work is centered around giving a voice to nature and animals, to showcase their importance in this world. Through an illustrative take on fine art, she strives to express a story in each drawing.
