In addition to our full-time staff, we hire and support up to 12 Work First participants at one time. This program provides wage-paid work, job training, and other employment support for folks who have previously struggled to maintain or find employment. For many, this is a crucial step to finding permanent employment. Work First employees will typically work equally on the truck and in our warehouse.
Good Haul shares warehouse space with the Philadelphia Furniture Bank, a nonprofit furniture bank serving over 50 member agencies and their clients. When Good Haul identifies usable, quality furniture pieces, they get cleaned up, properly heat treated and sanitized, and put onto the showroom floor for our clients. Clients who enter the Philadelphia Furniture Bank are typically individuals or families coming out of homelessness or leaving other crisis situations. The Veterans Multi-Service Center and Women Against Abuse are just two incredible agencies out of the 50+ that we serve. The Philadelphia Furniture Bank provides clients with a complete set of home furniture, including new bedding, to help individuals and families move into their homes faster and more comfortably. We offer quality furnishings in a nonjudgmental space where folks can select pieces that fit their home and style.
