Furnished for Good 2023
Thank you all, so very much, for your support of Furnished for Good. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised more than $50,000 to support the Philadelphia Furniture Bank in furnishing more than 1,500 households this year.
While the last few years have thrown us some curveballs, the Philadelphia Furniture Bank and Pathways have managed to continue to furnish homes for those exiting homelessness and other crisis situations. Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to ensure that everyone has a place to store their treasured belongings, a table where they can share a meal, and a brand-new bed to sleep in every night.
Earlier this year, guest curators Lawren Alice and Damon Reaves helped us to select 22 local artists to participate in this year’s event. Each artist received a stipend to create an original piece for our silent auction, and many chose to select a piece of furniture to turn into a work of art. Those items were exhibited here at Cherry Street, where thousands had the opportunity to view and bid on the custom pieces of art to support the Philadelphia Furniture Bank. We want to personally thank all of our artists for helping to make this event a success! You can view photos from the event on our Facebook page.
We could not do the work we do without the support of our community. Our board, staff, and supporters are integral to ensuring that we can carry out our mission to provide homes, restore health, and reclaim lives. We especially want to thank the sponsors of the event for their generosity.
We also want to thank Diane for allowing us to visit her home and learn more about her experience, and Horizon House for connecting her to PFB. It’s an honor to be able to do this work every day, and seeing how transformative furniture can be makes our hard work worthwhile.
