The Art of Recovery

On Monday November 10th, four Pathways to Housing PA participants showed their creative works in the First Community Behavioral Health Art Show entitled The Art of Recovery. Our participants' works displayed with dozens of other artists' works ranging from paintings, poetry, drawings, and even some works presented on video. During the ceremony, one participant James read a portion of his poem, "Ebony Moon" (see below). He then thanked the audience of at least 100 people and further stressed how amazing it was to be included among the works.

Another participant, Diana contributed a drawing entitled "Flow Phenomenon" that garnered so much attention when she was being photographed next to it that she's considering entering the work in other art shows. Other works included a painting by Lee and a poem and drawing by Michelle. The participants all enjoyed light refreshments and connecting with other artists in mental health programs across the city. The afternoon truly stressed how important creative space and art programs are for everyone especially those in mental health recovery.

The show is on display  at CBH, 801 Market Street, 11th floor until November 21st. It can be viewed from  9am - 5pm,  Monday through Friday.
