Community Integration - gardening
About three months ago the Community Integration Department formed a partnership with Jessica Shoffner.  She graduated from Kansas State several years ago with a degree in Horticultural Therapy and has a community garden she has been tending in North Philadelphia for several years.  We connected with her to help facilitate our Garden Club and to give our participants an opportunity to get outside and interact with each other.  Being in the garden together allows participants to work, see growth, and experience positive change in a rough neighborhood.
Eugene at the Polls

Pathways was thrilled to help get our program participants to the polls for the primary election in Philadelphia. It is a wonderful sight to witness the self-esteem that comes with pulling that lever. Our goal is to help every Pathways community member feel that power and exercise their right to vote.

Pathways Staff, Rebecca DeWhitt with members of the Philly Roller Derby

On May 8th, Pathways to Housing PA's employees Saron Wersom and Rebecca DeWhitt volunteered with WHYY to support their spring pledge drive. May 8th was the infamous College Challenge, and the ladies received calls from donors eager to pair the name of their alma mater with their pledge. Though Temple ultimately won the challenge, it was a close competition! They also enjoyed answering phones with some of the Philly Roller Girls, and even took home some free Roller Derby tickets (thanks Cycrone!).
