All funds raised through the Chair Affair benefit the Philadelphia Furniture Bank

The Philadelphia Furniture Bank opened in 2014 with the belief that no child should sleep on the floor, no family should be without a dinner table, and everyone should have a place to store clothes and treasured belongings. The Philadelphia Furniture Bank supports individuals and families exiting homelessness, youth aging out of foster care, victims of domestic violence, and other populations that struggle with homelessness and housing insecurity.

Pathways partners with more than 40 local social service agencies to provide furniture to individuals and families for a small fee. Each participant schedules a time to visit the Philadelphia Furniture Bank and works with a personal shopper to pick out their pieces. Delivery service is available to those who do not have other means of transportation, though many partner agencies provide transportation for their participants.

Are you an artist looking to participate?

In prior years, artists chose a chair from the Philadelphia Furniture Bank (PFB) and turned it into a work of art; the chairs were then auctioned at the event to help raise funds for operations at PFB. This year, we're expanding the premise to include other furniture pieces and/or works of art created by a participating artist that doesn't involve an item from PFB - it's time to get really creative!
