Welcome Our New Board Members!
We are thrilled to welcome three new members to our Board of Directors this year! Please join us in welcoming Joe, Mike, and Cykhira.
Joe Harrington

Joe Harrington brings decades of academic expertise, leadership, and community-focused service to our Board. He is the Patrick T. Harker Professor in the Department of Business Economics and Public Policy at The Wharton School, where he has taught since 2012. Prior to joining Wharton, Joe spent nearly three decades on the faculty at Johns Hopkins University.
Throughout his career, Joe has held leadership roles within his field, including serving as President of the Industrial Organization Society and as an editor for several academic journals. His work reflects a strong commitment to public service and thoughtful policy engagement.
Since moving to Philadelphia in 2013, Joe has embraced the city as his home and is motivated to support efforts that strengthen communities and expand opportunities for residents in need. Previously, he served on the board of Wide Angle Youth Media in Baltimore, an organization that empowers young people through media education and storytelling.
Joe holds a B.A. in Economics and Foreign Affairs from University of Virginia and a PhD in Economics from Duke University. We are grateful to welcome Joe to our Board and are glad to have his insight and experience as part of our team.
Mike McCormick

Michael J. McCormick brings more than 15 years of experience in healthcare finance and public accounting to our Board. He currently serves as Associate Vice President of Finance at Temple University Hospital, where he oversees complex operating budgets across a multi-campus system and supports long-term financial planning and stewardship.
Throughout his career, Mike has focused on aligning fiscal strategy with institutional goals, strengthening operational efficiency, and supporting responsible growth. His expertise includes capital planning, grant compliance, accounts receivable optimization, and executive reporting, with a strong emphasis on using data to inform decision-making.
Mike holds a B.S. in Accounting from Stockton University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania. We are grateful to welcome Mike to our Board and value the financial insight and perspective he brings to our work.
Cykhira Walton

Cykhira N. Walton brings a strong background in policy, law, and community advocacy to our Board. She currently serves as Senior Policy Advisor for Councilmember Anthony A. Phillips, representing Philadelphia’s 9th District, where she helps guide legislative strategy, zoning oversight, and community-driven policy initiatives in close collaboration with residents, community organizations, and city departments.
Cykhira’s work focuses on advancing priorities such as neighborhood revitalization, youth engagement, public safety, and equitable economic development. Her career spans legal, policy, and nonprofit service, including clerking for the Honorable Daine Grey in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, serving as a Voter Protection Legal Fellow with Pennsylvania Voice, and interning with Philadelphia Legal Assistance and the Dauphin County Public Defender’s Office.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Pre-Law from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned her Juris Doctor from Widener University Commonwealth Law School. In addition to her professional work, Cykhira serves on the Board of Directors of Philly Youth, Inc., is a member of the Philadelphia Barristers’ Association and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and volunteers as a civic education presenter for middle school students. We are grateful to welcome Cykhira to our Board and value her deep commitment to empowering communities and strengthening neighborhoods across Philadelphia.
