Support Our Emergency Pantry
On any given night in Philadelphia, it is estimated that over 4,700 people are experiencing homelessness, with 706 of them living unsheltered. This doesn’t include those who are hidden away, sleeping on a friend’s couches or in their own cars, which suggests the number is even higher.
We believe that housing is a basic human right. Everyone deserves a place to call home - it’s that simple. We support individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness by providing permanent housing, medical care, behavioral health care, and encouraging full participation in community life. Complex issues like homelessness require creativity, innovation, and constant evolution to meet the needs of those affected.
Currently, Pathways to Housing PA serves more than 660 participants. Our Emergency Pantry has become a staple service for those who don’t have income or qualify for supplemental benefits. General Assistance in Pennsylvania was canceled five years ago, which was a resource many relied on to purchase essentials like food. Most food pantries and meal providers shuttered in 2020 due to the pandemic, and many did not reopen. Thus, the remaining providers are faced with overwhelming need throughout the city.
Our emergency pantry has expanded to provide more than shelf staples and other nonperishable food items. We are now stocking essential personal care items, basic clothing, and cleaning products. We’ve consistently hit record temperatures this year with multiple Code Reds, so it’s more important than ever that we can provide these essentials to our participants. Our summer-specific needs are t-shirts, shorts, deodorant, and sunscreen. More ideas for items to donate can be found on the Emergency Pantry webpage and our Amazon Pantry Wish List.

1. Donate New, Nonperishable Food Items

2. Host a Collection Drive
Gather your family and friends to collect various items to donate, and then drop them off or ship them to our office. Here is the list of Accepted Items.

3. Purchase from our Amazon Wish List
You can now shop online safely and securely using our Amazon Wish List and your gift will immediately be sent directly to our office. If you would like a tax receipt for your donation, please use the note section when checking out to list your name and contact information.
